Fotografie is an album that was born from the artistic Giusy Ferreri confronting songwriters of high thickness. The songs chosen directly by Giusy are part of his musical knowledge: I Was Made To Love Magic by Nick Drake, with a rose by Vinicio Capossela, Paolo Benvegnù Portrait The Sea, by Jerome Kern Yesterdays (song played in the past by Billie Holiday) , Hello Love Hello Luigi Tenco and Estate of Bruno Martino.

Fotografie was born thanks to the comparison and collaboration with Tiziano Ferro proposed to Giusy Ferreri tracks of large international authors and renovated in the key Italian, in order to be able to honor some of the world: Vilarejo (Little Village) of Brazilian singer Marisa Monte, Como Quieres Que Te Quieras (How do you think I can love you) by Rosario Flores, Dy-Na-Mi-Tee (Miss Dynamite) by Ms. Dynamite and I Was Made To Love Magic (Magic is my lover) by Nick Drake .

The 4th annual SearchFest conference is in the books, and this one was a lot different than previous SearchFests. The venue was bigger, the crowd filled it, and — for the first time — there were three tracks running concurrently. I’m hoping to do another post on one content-related element from the show, so this post is only going to be a link to my Flickr photoset and an embedded slideshow below. (Disclaimer: The lighting made photography exceptionally difficult, so don’t be alarmed if some of these look … different.)

Semi nude women and a Museum of Crptozoology? Where do i sign? In all seriousness, it is a worthy cause. Personally I believe in the ethical treatment of animals and lend my support to PETA as i’ve been a vegan on and off myself for some years now( I just can’t stay away from cheese) . Kudos to you Loren for practicing what you preach and please, more photos!

  2. Valen responds:

“However, if any cryptids are harmed during the protest, I’ll post the photos immediately!!”

    Take photos anyway!

  3. greybeard responds:
    March 10th, 2010 at 10:59 am

I had to reregister in order to post! I guess it’s been a loooong time, but I just couldn’t let this slide past. PETA is more interested in collecting $$ than helping animals or even treating them well. http://www.petakillsanimals.com

  4. crapple responds:
    March 10th, 2010 at 11:10 am

i agree with Greybeard, they kill about 90% of animals they take in, instead of sending them to nearby shelters that actually could take care of them.

Personally, i too believe in treating animals right, but we are still higher on the food chain.

  5. Dr Kaco responds:

It’s politics when it comes to PETA really. And when it comes to Religion & State….I choose the Paranormal!!

  8. cryptidsrus responds:
    March 10th, 2010 at 5:11 pm

I agree with most of the above posters. PETA kills 90% of the animals they take in and oppose Animal Experimentation even if it is STRICTLY for Medical Purposes and the Animals are treated humanely. Their actions also borders on the terroristic. I’m into animals but I’m not going to potentially take human life for them, either.

“Personally, i too believe in treating animals right, but we are still higher on the food chain.”

My sentiments exactly…Thanks for the insight, CRAPPLE. I know many will disagree with that, and that’s OK. I’m personally an unrepentant Omnivore who eats Red Meat at least once a week. “Keeps me healthy,” as Marlene Dietrich said about Smoking. LOL.

Don’t wear Fur but would love to own one one day. I know, I know, that makes me the “Devil,” but my take on it is, if the anmals are raised strictly for that purpose and are treated Humanely during their lifetimes, I have no problem with that. Again, many will disagree with me, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Didn’t know you were a Vegan, Loren. Interesting.
    Thanks for the update.

  9. catstina responds:
    March 10th, 2010 at 7:42 pm

Cryptidsrus, the problem with fur is that the animals are often not treated humanely. It’s the same problem as with meat and leather. They are often abused or kept in unacceptable situations. Some furs are even made from wild trapped animals that have to struggle in awful and painful traps before they are killed.

I am no PETA member (I disagree with many of their campaigns, especially their support of breed specific legislation) but I still think that the fur, meat, and leather industries are cruel and unacceptable at times. Therefore, I would never purchase or support the purchase of fur (I also don’t eat meat or wear leather, but I don’t try and persuade others to do the same).

Loren, that’s so cool that you are vegan! I had no idea!

  10. Ayala responds:
    March 10th, 2010 at 8:38 pm

    Wait, wait, wait…

    You said:

“Reportedly, they may disrobe further, closer to 1:00 pm, but I had cryptozoology to get back to at the museum!”

You are REALLY dedicated to the ICM, Loren!!! LOL!

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

British actor Andy Whitfield, the star of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”, has been diagnosed with non-Hodkin’s lymphoma and will begin cancer treatment immediately. The cancer was detected in an early stage when the actor did a routine checkup before the filming for the second season of Spartacus began in New Zealand.

The production of Starz hit show has been postponed to allow Andy to undergo treatment. The doctors are confident on Andy’s full recovery since the cancer was detected in its early stages and is therefore “very treatable”. Get well soon, Andy!!

Looks like that some of the wine corks in the photo are made of that corkless stuff. I suppose that is recyclable but I would need to do research. In the meantime I have a container filling up with wine corks of both types. I was planning on using them in some sort of art project.

Our local IKEA takes in small batteries for recycling. I don't shop there very often, but I collect my batteries in a container until I have enough to justify a trip the mouse maze or am shopping nearby.

My San Diego neighborhood has green recycling and takes about every thing except palm fronds and other fibrous plants. City residents can go to the green recycling center and get free mulch and compost.

I second what JScott says, shop greener.

Add this one to the long list of scandals involving altered news photos: World Press Photo disqualified the third prize winner of the contest's Sports Features category for removing an extraneous foot from an image.

Stepan Rudik's story about street fighting in Kiev, Ukraine included a close-up image of someone's hand being bandaged (first image shown here). Removed from the original image (second image shown) was a small, blurry white sneaker that belonged to a person standing in the background.

WPP organizers said on their Web site that after the contest results were announced, it came to their attention "that Rudik's story had violated a contest rule. After requesting RAW-files of the series from him, it became clear that an element had been removed from one of the original photographs."

Bill Frakes, a WPP juror, explained to PDN: "The jury felt that this was not acceptable.  Not in line with industry standards which is the test."

I don't argue that the profession has to draw its lines in the sand. Various bloggers have reported the controversy, and Rudik has been taken to task. It's a public ritual by which examples are made of people–previously Brian Walski, Patrick Schneider, Allan Detrich, and Edgar Martins, to name several–and standards are maintained.

But I have to confess that I don't entirely understand the arbitrary rules and the lack of proportionality. It's as if littering were as bad as armed robbery, and murder OK depending upon the weapon.

In Rudik's case, for instance, he was disqualified for removing the smallest element, but I would argue that all his other manipulation to the image in question did much more to change the meaning. And it was all acceptable, apparently. He converted a color image to black and white. He blew the image up. He cropped the image. He vignetted it heavily. Burning out the sneaker in a darkroom probably would have been OK back in the day, when photographers did that all the time. But removing that sneaker in Photoshop? That was a cardinal sin, and some famous burn-and-dodgers of yore are now said to be spinning in their graves.

Related photo doctoring stories:
Brian Walski was fired by the Los Angeles Times in 2003 for altering an Iraq war photo.
Patrick Schneider was stripped of POY awards in 2003 and was fired by the Charlotte Observer after a second offense in 2006.
Allan Detrich resigned from the Toledo Blade in 2007 after he was caught doctoring numerous photos.
Edgar Martins embarrassed The New York Times last summer after it published images he had altered.

Do-it-yourself wedding photography is an excellent way to save money, but it is important to plan the details. Chances are you probably know a few photography buffs who are willing to help with your wedding photos. Use this guide to make the most of their skills and generosity to get beautiful wedding pictures.

1. Recruit multiple friends or family members to help with the photographs.
Designating multiple people as photographer splits the workload and means the wedding pictures will reflect a variety of perspectives. Choose knowledgeable, reliable people who are experienced in digital photography.

2. Use a high quality camera.
Make sure the camera you choose is technologically capable of capturing your winter wedding memories. Varying lighting conditions and action scenes are no problem for a good digital camera.

3. Have backup batteries or a backup camera ready.
Be sure the camera you use is charged and have a backup battery or backup camera ready.

4. Bring extra memory cards.
With digital cameras, most people take a few photos then delete the bad ones. The quick pace of a wedding probably will not leave time to edit along the way. Besides, pictures that are out of focus or unusual often have a unique beauty that is not immediately apparent. Bring extra memory cards to avoid missing a good shot.

5. Be very clear about what you want.
Research online and browse friend's wedding albums to get an idea of the type of poses and moments you want to commemorate. Make a list to be absolutely certain each milestone is photographed.

6. Get a mix of candid and posed shots.
A variety of photos best captures the spirit of the day.

7. Plan for the weather.
Depending on the wedding location, winter weather may mean it is too frigid to venture outdoors for a photo session. Plan to take group shots of the bridal party and family members indoors.

8. Edit the photos.
Try cropping and adding different special effects. Sepia and black and white pictures take on an elegant, timeless quality.

9. Order quality photo prints.
Since you saved so much on the cost of a photographer, invest in prints that use high quality paper and ink.

10. Make a wedding album.
You can use traditional photo prints to make a wedding album, but digital photos give you more options. A variety of book options, including hardbound books and small flipbooks, are available online and in many drug and discount stores.

    • One of the most important choices a bride and groom will make is the selection of their wedding photographer.

There are so many things to decide like the dress, decor, food, location, music, etc. But the choice of a photographer is one of the most important since your pictures will be one of the most lasting and cherished memories from the most important day of your life.

We’ve all heard horror stories about studios creating lousy images, or not producing anything at all. By taking the time to do some research you can be assured of selecting a photographer who will not only deliver great pictures, but who can make you feel great about your choice and remove at least one worry from a day filled with stresses.

If any of your friends have been married in recent years . Why not ask them who shot their wedding and look at their wedding pictures to see how the photographer did. You’ll likely get some good references this way, so contact the photographers who did a great job for your friends.

It also pays to check out several photographers. Do an internet search for local wedding photographers - here in the capital city of Alberta Canada, you would search for Edmonton Wedding Photographers. You can also do a search for something like Edmonton photography. You’ll get hundreds of results, but look at those shown on the first few pages. When you visit the different websites, you’ll get a feel for each photographer’s style. Contact those who stand out. Their response is a good indication of how professional they are. Are the replies professional and written clearly? Have they provided any other examples or references?

Next, make appointments with the photographers who seem like they’ll shoot the kind of pictures you want and who are in your budget. When you meet with the photographer, they’ll show you a portfolio of their work. How they treat you during this interview (when they are trying to sell you on their services) is a good example of what you can expect if you hire them. Are they friendly, or are they condescending? Do they seem warm, or are you uncomfortable working with them?

The photographer will have an agreement for you to sign. Take your time to read it, because it outlines what is expected of both parties. The agreement is for your benefit, too. While it commits you to pay them, it also commits them to provide the services you have discussed.

Here are a few other thoughts that should help your photographer get the best photographs during your wedding:

      1. Make a list of the most important photos you want and provide it to the photographer before the wedding.

      2. Make sure you know WHO is going to photograph your wedding. If the main photographer isn’t going to be the actual photographer at your wedding, find out who will - and ask to see their personal portfolio before you commit to hiring them.

      3. Assign a family member or close friend to be the photographer’s liason who can point out all the important family members who you want to be sure to get pictures of.

      4. Ask the photographer to come to the rehearsal so they will know where they can get the best shots without getting in the way.

      5. Pre-plan where the formal and informal photographs will be taken.

      6. Find out if the photographer provides finished prints, albums, thank-you cards and similar services after the wedding. These can be valuable extras that will enhance your wedding day memories and many photographers have excellent resources for these items that are of higher quality than the public can get.

By following these suggestions you won’t need to worry about your photographer. You’ll be able to enjoy your wedding day with the knowledge that you’ll have many wonderful photographs to enjoy for the rest of your life.

The author is an accomplished professional photographer who specializes in wedding and portrait photography in Edmonton, Alberta.

Making a photo montage in Microsoft Publisher can be fun and simple with just a few quick steps, creativity and imagination to help you along the way. Your photo montage should first of all match in theme and can be designed in numerous ways. Most photo montages always have a picture that is the center of attention, followed with smaller pictures around it. Why make one? Why not? Montages are great snapshots of special events or everyday memories you catch. From birthdays, proms, weddings, Fourth of July events to the first time your child eats solid foods montages can bring a variety of memories together in one place to share for eternity. Making a simple montage with Microsoft Publisher:

1. Open up Microsoft Publisher and figure out what style of board you want, whether horizontal or vertical. Template design choices? You can find them by clicking on publication designs to pick one.

2. Your main picture, the center of attention - For this montage we'll start with five photos. First place the picture in the middle of the board by clicking on the picture. You should be able to edge it over with your arrow keys or simply drag it over by holding down on your mouse. Now, to make your montage defined, you should make this picture the biggest of the five. You grab the corner of the image and hold the mouse down to do this. This will be the one you want everyone to look at first and come back to when they're done looking at the rest of them.

3. Position-For the rest of the images, place the second image above the main image, centering it. Next place the third image to the right of the main image, centering that one as well. The fourth image should go to the left of the main image, while the fifth image will go below the main image.

4. Give them borders- Click on a pic and on the picture tool bar click on a border (and border color) to apply to the image. Black, for me, has always been a favorite cause it's a powerful color, but you can use others. I make my borders nothing less than 1.75 pts so it doesn't look silly and take away from the picture.

5. Backgrounds-Here's where I get really picky because the last thing you want to do is select a background that takes away from your pictures. You don't want people complimenting your background and say nothing about your pictures! I usually go with a solid background, or a background that matches my montage. If I were going to do a wedding montage, I'd go with something along that theme, and so forth. So, to place your background click FORMAT and then BACKGROUND to bring up the background palette. Choose what you want and hit enter.

6. Title your montage- This may be my second most detailed part because you want to pick a font that matches what you're doing. No worries though– In your menu above you can see what each font looks like so it will be easy to choose! Once you've looked them over click INSERT and then hit TEXT BOX, afterwards drawing it on the board. You can pretty much have a Microsoft word flashback at this point because the menu speaks for itself. You have your formatting, the font, and size all up there for you to choose from. In the montage we're making, you can put text to the right and left of the top photo above your main photo, and vice versa at the bottom. Here are some fonts I usually pick: Monotype Corsiva, Times New Roman (Bold, Italics), Eurostar Black Extended, Peinaud, and Impact Bold (sometimes with italics)

Saving your montage

Once you've completed it, check it over and make sure everything is where you want it and in FILE hit SAVE AS. I usually save my work as .JPEG because it's just easier that way.

Presenting your montage

Once you print it out, pick a frame that will match your fantastic creation. If it's about weddings, staple ruffles around your frame to signify the event, or place Halloween decorations around it if you've got some ghosts and goblins for a montage. Make it as original as possible and I'm sure you'll get a lot of feedback that will contain the memories of each picture you've chosen in your montage.

Correct! The shutterlag is the most critical time to capture insects in-flight. Freezing the action is done by the 2 flashes at low power to freeze as much as possible the fast moving wings.

But the most hightech part is the auto detection by IR laser signals and an extra detector macro lens with integrated AVR controller to measure the reflected IR signal. This signals are send 20 usec on- 20 usec off. Both signal levels on the detector lens are calculated via the ATtiny45 controller and send every 40 usec to the FPGA module. The difference between environment light and IR light gives the values for the FPGA controller. The 2 IR lasers are on the side and pointed to the ideal focuspoint. The reflected IR signals are only possible if an object is correct into the focuspoint. A few mm out this point set the IR signal to zero. By this way the insects are detected into 40usec delay only. Information from the AVR controller is send via SPI signals to the FPGA module. The FPGA module works on 50MHz to drive all the timings digital at very precise delays.

Omar and Jeff didn’t address the most pressing needs in the offseason….pitching, speed and defense. They have put all there money on EVERYONE returning to form and in some cases their best years(Ollie and Maine) for this team to compete. Phils got better and we didn’t.
Other than Lackey being signed there was no FA that I was crazy about(this includes Bay). I would have signed Lacky and waited on Crawford in 2011-a more suited player for Citi Field.

That said I am disturbed that Omar hasn’t pulled the trigger on a trade or two.

He is paid the big bucks to be creative and we are NOT seeing it.

And don’t forget we won’t have Beltran until June.

I have never been as bummed about an upcoming season as this one.
At least the picture looks nice.

Alysha Castonguay Topless Photos Ignite Controversy

I taken Images in the last weeks - please tell me what you think:

211/366 Window on the World by Janey Kay

source Tell me if you like them - i love to discuss the photos with you!

Jill Greenberg, a freelance celebrity photographer, has admitted on her website that she deliberately made photographs she took of presidential nominee John McCain negative and unflattering. The Atlantic Magazine hired freelancer Jill Greenberg to take photos of McCain for an upcoming edition of the magazine. According to her blog, Jill Greenberg used uplighting to portray McCain as devilish and did not airbrush or retouch his red eyes and skin tone. Correcting minor imperfections after the shoot is a common practice for photographers, including Jill Greenberg.

After The Atlantic rejected most of the photographs and went with a more traditional, although still unretouched, portrait of McCain, Jill Greenberg posted some of the photos on her website and Photoshopped scribbles on them, depicting McCain as a devil with horns and with blood dripping from his fangs.

In her blog, Jill Greenberg boasts “I left his eyes red and his skin looking bad.” She blames Atlantic Magazine for hiring her in the first place. “Some of my artwork has been pretty anti-Bush, so maybe it was somewhat irresponsible for [The Atlantic] to hire me.”

On The Atlantic's website, the author of the article photographed by Jill Greenberg apologized to readers and expressed his sheer disbelief at the level of unprofessionalism exhibited by Greenberg.

Is it okay to let your politics show in the workplace? Jill Greenberg sees nothing wrong with her actions. As a management consultant, I have many clients whose politics differ from my own. But they have hired me to do a job and that's when personal opinions are put aside and professionalism kicks in. If I chose to imbue the work I do for my clients with my own politics, I would rightly be fired and could likely expect to not work in the field of management accounting again.

Jill Greenberg has not done herself or the Democrats any favors. She will likely find her calendar less booked, even by Dem-leaning clients who may feel that her lack of professionalism could extend to other personal opinions. Greenberg's actions and admissions will lead her down the path of becoming an industry pariah. If Jill Greenberg's goal was to bring notoriety to her self and her business, she may have accomplished that in a very different manner than she intended.

Tips for Upgrading Your Toshiba Laptop Drives

February 3rd, 2010 by terrencenorman1953

eMachines E627 39

When you run into the problem of having a broken laptop monitor you will be no doubt frustrated because you will not be able to do anything on your laptop computer. The thing that you can do for your broken laptop monitor is to use an external laptop monitor. It will take away the portable feature of your laptop but you will be able to use the laptop computer with an external laptop monitor.

Most of the time it is an easy task to use an external laptop monitor. All you have to do is buy a VGA cord from your local computer store. Many PC monitors for desktop use the same cord. The problem with those cords is that there are so many of them that use a VGA cord that is made into the monitor, so it can't be removed. In that case, you will still have to buy a VGA cord if you want to use an external laptop monitor for your broken laptop monitor. When you plug up your laptop to an external laptop monitor you should be able to see what would've been on the broken laptop monitor. If you don't then you will a few more steps to do to get a picture.

Most laptops have a variety of functions that will allow you to do certain things at the press of a button. These keys are activated by using the function button that is usually labeled FN. If you have an HP laptop then the button that you are looking for is F4. That is the button that needs to be pressed in conjunction with the FN button to switch a broken laptop monitor to an external laptop monitor. It is a different key and a different picture depending on what type of laptop you have. For example, if you are using a Toshiba Satellite laptop then the button that you are looking for will probably be F5. You have to press the F5 key with the FN key to switch to an external laptop monitor if you're using a Toshiba laptop. If that doesn't work then you will have to boot your laptop up in safe mode so that the resolution is set to a default one. This will allow any monitor to show the display of the laptop in an external laptop monitor provided that the external laptop monitor is actually working.

After this years CES, it's clear that USB 3.0 is here to stay. Wtih a tidal wave of consumer devices looming on the horizon, we've decided to help clear up confusion about USB 2.0's successor. Here's all the information you need to know about USB 3.0, organized into a brief FAQ.

How is USB 3.0 different from USB 2.0?

USB 3.0 features a number of features not seen in USB 2.0. The most important of these is the "SuperSpeed" bus–two additional pairs of wire which allow for significantly faster transfers than before, with full duplex transfers. These additional connections require a different, larger form factor for USB 3.0 plugs. USB 3.0 also improves on the power-management capabilities of USB 2.0, offering advanced efficiency features, as well as the ability to provide more power to USB 3.0 devices. About the only drawback to USB 3.0 is that the maximum cable length for high speed transmission is likely to drop to around 10 feet, from 15 feet with USB 2.0.

Is USB 3.0 backward compatible with earlier USB standards?

Yes it is. A USB 2.0 device will be able to plug into a USB 3.0 port and will work just fine. Also, a standard A USB 3.0 plug can be inserted into a USB 2.0 A port, operating at USB 2.0 speeds. Other USB 3.0 plugs, however, are larger than their USB 2.0 counterparts, and therefore cannot be used with older-generation ports.

Just how fast is USB 3.0?

USB 3.0 boasts theoretical transfer rates of up to 4.8 Gbps, or 600 megabytes per second–10 times the maximum transfer rate of USB 2.0. This would, ideally, allow you to transfer a 25GB HD movie in about 40 seconds. Pretty fast, huh?

Unfortunately, the theoretical maximum is just that–theoretical. USB 2.0 devices rarely ever reached much more than 50% of the maximum transfer rate, and it's unlikely that USB 3.0 will either. A more realistic estimate, then, is that USB 3.0 will allow transfer at up to 300-400 megabytes per second. At that rate, it would take 60-80 seconds to transfer that same 25 GB HD movie from before.

USB 3.0 hardware is still in its infancy, of course, so even 300 MB/s sustained isn't attainable yet. So far, USB 3.0 transfers top out at around 200 MB/s when using a fast external SSD. Expect that to go up in the not-so-distant future, though.

What does "full-duplex data transfers" mean?

Data transfer is full duplex if it can handle data flowing in both directions (upload and download, for instance) simultaneously. A half duplex connection can only send data in one direction at a time. Think of a walkie-talkie, where you can only hear the other person as long as you're not transmitting, yourself.

Because the SuperSpeed bus uses two differential pairs to transfer data, it can transfer in both directions at the same time, making it full duplex, unlike USB 2.0.

What are USB 3.0's power advantages?

USB 3.0 includes several advances in the way it handles power to external devices.

For one, it increases the power available for devices to use. In low power mode, USB 3.0 provides 150 mA, an increase from 100 mA in USB 2.0. In high-power mode, USB 3.0 provides up to 900 mA, up from 500mA in USB 2.0. These power increases mean faster charging of USB devices, and more USB peripherals that can be run without an AC power adapter.

Further, the spec offers new power-conserving options, including new power states, such as idle and suspend. These allow devices to receive less power when they don't need it. Also, since USB 3.0 no longer uses active, continuous polling of connected devices, peripherals won't have their batteries depleted as fast.

What kind of USB 3.0 devices are available now?

At CES 2010, 17 consumer USB 3.0 devices were announced, including hard drives, motherboard, laptops, and controller cards. Expect to see lots more in the coming months.

What hardware do I need to use a USB 3.0 device?

To use a USB 3.0 device, you'll need a USB 3.0 controller. If your motherboard doesn't have a built-in USB 3.0 controller (and unless you upgraded your mobo VERY recently, it doesn't) you'll need a USB 3.0 controller card, which take up a PCI-e slot, and are available online for around $30. For the laptop crowd, USB 3.0 ExpressCards are also available. Some USB 3.0 hardware is available in a "starter kit" bundle, which includes a controller card.

What software (drivers) do I need to use a USB 3.0 device?

So far, USB 3.0 drivers aren't included in Windows 7, and there's no word on exactly when or if they will be. You'll have to install third party drivers to use your USB 3.0 hardware, which should be provided by your controller card/motherboard manufacturer.

Did we miss anything? If you've got your own questions, leave them below in the comments. We'll forward them to our USB expert and get back to you with the answer!

Hello all a week a go I puchased a wireless setup consisting of a wireless 3G thumbdrive modem and and netcomm wireless 3G 11n USB router to give me wireless connection to my laptop, printer and maybe ethernet connection to my XBOX in the future.
Now once all connected; thumbdrive to router and router thru lan to laptop it wont syncronise with the router, just sit there trying to find it.
Now on the other hand the USB connects to the internet fine straight in the laptop USB and the USB is compatible according to Netcomm webpage. Also the laptop is connected wirelessly to the router 100% but no good until iv'e sync'd it. I think?
In the netcomm admin I choose DHCP (auto config) as the wan connection type and in the 3G setting I type spins888a1 as the APN for the USB/provider recommended by netcomm website.
other than that ive tried other settings, other APN's, resetting router, turning off an on after changing different settings, heaps of stuff. If anyone has any ideas or knows what im doing wrong that would be sweet, pulling my freak'n hair out. not suppose to be this hard.. cheers guys

Olympus Stylus 780 Digital Camera Review

January 30th, 2010 by terrencenorman1953

Olympus OM-1 by the brownhorse

SIGMA 18-200mm 3

Digital cameras can be confusing creatures if you haven't ever really been around technology much like my Grandparents, and if you don't know how to use technology and haven't ever then you probably don't want to learn. Well then there is a digital camera that was built for those kinds of people (my grandparents included) and that is the Olympus FE-230. This camera is a true point and shoot camera, literally the camera adjusts all settings so all you have to do is point the camera and take the picture. Not to bad if you don't know how to manipulate the complex settings of other more advanced digital cameras, which is why I bought this camera for my grandparents.

My grandparents needed a cheap digital camera that was simple to use and took decent photos, they didn't want and I quote “one of them there fancy cameras with all the buttons that I don't know what the hell to do with'em all.” Besides the fact that my grandparents talk country they aren't stupid people they just don't like technology and don't want to learn anything either, they want a camera that takes pictures like their old film camera, where they don't have to do anything special. The Olympus FE-230 takes care of this for them; it adjusts almost all settings for the user and has very few options when it comes to image manipulation.

I personally hate this camera but don't let that sway you from buying it, the only reason I hate this camera is everything is automated and I don't have control, this is what my grandparents love about the camera. The camera completely automates white balance, ISO sensitivity, and most other settings. This is what makes the camera perfect for anyone who doesn't want to have to deal with changing settings to make a photo look more appealing.

Other than all of the automated settings the Olympus FE-230 includes a 38mm to 114mm 3x zoom lens, with a 7.1 mega-pixel resolution, and a 2.5 inch LCD screen. Other than the automatic mode it also includes 18 other preset modes to choose from, including a 30 frames per second VGA video record mode. It's a small camera weighing only 4.3 ounces and is slim and fits in a pocket easily and comfortably. The camera also has large buttons and an easy to navigate menu which is great again for my grandparents who prefer things easy to use.

The only other thing I don't like about the Olympus FE-230 is that it is SLOW. The thing takes about 3 to 4 seconds to start up and then when taking pictures there is about a 4 second delay between photos. If you turn on the flash the delay is more like 5 or 6 seconds which annoys me but my grandparents don't mind the sluggishness. I was surprised at the image quality, since the camera automates almost all settings I expected it to be junk, but the colors and details are pretty great. It surprised me with the quality of images it produced even in low light, some of the details can be obscured when taking pictures in low light, but it does an ok job.

This camera is very simple to use and won't ever give someone problems when all they want to do is take a simple picture without having to know what setting they need to put their camera on. This is a very simplistic camera and I only recommend it for those who don't know technology and don't want to have to change any settings ever. This is the best point and shoot camera for the price which is $180 at most stores. If you just want to take pictures and never change a setting this is the camera for you!

The Panasonic HDC-TM300 has a slimmer profile that’s more comfortable to hold and easier on the eyes. However, it still has the impressive video performance that drew pur approval when we reviewed its hard drive based sister model. The Panasonic HDC-TM300  camcorder record excellent video in all lighting conditions, captures surprisingly good still photos and just about every features you could want in a consumer camcorder.

The three models incorporate the same 12x zoom f1.8-2.8 lens the same lens as the HS100/SD100 as well the same trio of 1/4 inch and 3 megapixel 3MOS sensors, with an effective resolution of 2.07-megapixel each for 16:9 video. The real 3 megapixel for the predown sampled AVCHD video finally breaks the resolution berrier, normally, 3-chip systems use lower that HD resolution sensors, which don’t seem to produce terribly sharp HD video. Because the different media, the camcorders have slightly different design, but the same features sets and should have identical video quality.

The Highest video quality they offer is 1,929×1,080 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second at 17 megabits per second and can record about 8 minutes of video per gigabyte of storage space or approximately 4 hours of video in the internal memory. The next level down, 13Mbps, gets about 10 minutes per gigabyte.

The Panasonic HRD-TM300 is 85g lighter than the HS300 and Panasonic has been able to redesign the chassis slightly too. The base dimensions are almost identical, but the handgrip side has a smoother, rounder contour which is a little easier to hold. The wheel for switching the camcorder on into video, camera r playback mode has been moved to the side and can now be operated one handed with your thumb.  But more significantly the zoom telephoto rocker is now on the top of the main body, allowing it to be a much more sensible size.

So there you are, skimming the aisles at your local electronics retailer looking for the perfect digital camcorder. While there are literally hundreds of great products available, finding the ideal camcorder for you can be a daunting task. If you are looking for a small camcorder that can record in high-definition as well as give you numerous of other advanced features, then there is a product you have to look at. The Panasonic HD DVD Camcorder, Model: HDC-DX1 will provide you with outstanding video and audio recordings that can be burned directly onto a DVD for immediate sharing.

Product Ratings:

User-Friendliness: 4/5 Stars

Video Quality: 4.5/5 Stars

Product Features: 4.5/5 Stars

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars

Main Product Features:

Within this digital camcorder you will be able to enjoy some of the coolest features within the camcorder industry. The main feature that I found to be interesting within this digital camcorder is the fact that you can record high-definition videos. This will be a great feature for you if you have an HDTV or a high-definition computer. Your home movies have never looked as great as they will when filmed with this camcorder.

Another great feature this digital camcorder will provide you is the simplistic way of sharing your videos. Unlike other camcorders, this product records your movies directly onto a blank DVD, so you can instantly view them on your television after recording.

This digital camcorder will provide you with high-definition video, but the audio quality from your home movies will be outstanding. This is due to the 5.1 Surround Sound audio that is automatically recorded with every video. Your movies will have the same dynamic sound quality that Hollywood blockbusters are known for. All of the audio is recorded through the intellectual built-in microphone.

When you are using this digital camcorder you will also never have to worry about excessive shaking or image distortion due to rough filming environments. This is due to the Optical Image Stabilization System. If you have read any of my other camcorder reviews, you are well aware that this is my favorite feature any camcorder can obtain because it really makes a difference in the quality of your home movies.

You are also able to save storage space by filming your movies in MPEG Film Mode, which will loose some of the quality the standard recording mode offers you, but you will be able to record longer movies, making it perfect for long parties you want to record.

Product Price:

This Panasonic Digital Camcorder has an average price of $675 and it can be purchased online and through retail stores.
